Devin adds a Terminal tab for its coding sessions
The update makes its working environment easier to reach. Teams can use the occasion to clarify tests and handoffs.

Set acceptance criteria before handing work over.
Keep a record of manual interventions.
Review the diff and test results together.
The short answer
When working with a coding agent, it helps to see what is happening: which files changed, which test is running and what still needs review? Direct access to the working environment can be more useful than another long progress message.
Announcement date: 5 Oct 2026
What changed?
The official October 5 release notes list a new Terminal tab for running commands on Devin’s machine. Files can open while a session is asleep; opening Files or Terminal wakes it. The keyboard shortcuts overview is now available to everyone.
Who is this relevant to?
The change is relevant to developers and small teams handing work to coding agents. The additional access is particularly useful to consider when coordinating an active task with human review.
What this means for your work
Our suggested handoff: agree on a working branch, acceptance criteria and relevant tests at the start. After any manual intervention, note which command you ran and which file you changed. Ask the agent for a brief account of the current state. Before approval, inspect the full diff and the actual test results. That gives the next person a traceable starting point.
Limits of this report
This article interprets provider documentation; it is not a hands-on test. The update demonstrates neither error-free code nor a speed improvement. Terminal commands can change files and systems, so check their purpose and environment first.
