Price, market cap and volume: read the numbers correctly

A low price per coin does not automatically mean good value. How to read the market overview.

The short answer

A dashboard places several numbers together, but each answers a different question. Consider circulating supply, timestamps and actual trading conditions alongside them.

Price: value per unit

Our prices are displayed in USD. The provider aggregates market information; an actual order may execute at a different price. Fees and currency conversion may add costs. Small prices are displayed with additional decimals.

Market capitalisation is not a cash balance

In simplified terms: price multiplied by circulating supply. An illustrative calculation, not real market data: one billion units at USD 0.01 gives USD ten million. This does not mean that amount is held in an account or available if everyone sells.

Volume and liquidity differ

The 24-hour volume reports observed trading activity. Liquidity concerns whether a particular amount can be traded with limited price impact. That requires examining the order book or pool, venue and proposed size. One volume figure does not answer those questions.

Check the timestamp

The percentage describes 24 hours, not your personal entry price. Findbest requests updates on visits at most every 15 minutes. Older data is labelled; source values older than 24 hours are hidden. A dash means missing data, not a zero price.
