Make your website discoverable in AI search: the practical basics
Accessible pages, useful answers and traceable sources instead of promises of guaranteed AI mentions.

The short answer
Visibility in AI search starts with accessible, useful content. Google does not require an additional special file for AI Overviews or AI Mode. A page must be indexed and eligible to appear in Search with a snippet. That is a prerequisite, not a guarantee of inclusion.
Your practical comparison
What you need
Website management access, a list of important user questions and ideally a verified Search Console property. Start with a few useful pages instead of large numbers of near-duplicate texts.
- Check access. The intended page should load publicly, have an appropriate canonical and not be accidentally excluded by noindex or robots.txt.
- Answer the actual question early. Then explain requirements, the process and limitations using a logical heading structure.
- Make claims checkable. Provide sources and a real review date; do not invent testing experience, ratings or market shares.
- Connect related pages with descriptive links. Comparisons, guides and relevant tool profiles should help readers discover one another.
- Keep structured data consistent with visible content. Do not describe a review or price that the article does not actually contain.
- Observe search impressions and relevant page views over a meaningful period. Record changes and assess which content answers real questions.
Example to get you started
Page review: Does it answer the main question? Can readers check material claims? Is the source available? Do the title, language, canonical and publication status agree?
Things to consider
Search systems decide what to crawl, index and select. An optional llms.txt can serve as a content index but does not guarantee citations. Without connected search data, rankings cannot be assessed reliably.
